Tinne Gilis (PSA 8), het zesde reekshoofd, plaatste zich gisteren/zondag voor de tweede ronde door de Hongkongse Ka Yi Lee (PSA 33) in drie sets (11-8, 11-2 en 11-4) te kloppen. Morgen/dinsdag (11u Belgische tijd) neemt ze het op tegen de Egyptische Fayrouz Aboelkheir (PSA 12).

De Egyptische nummer drie van de wereld Nour Elsherbini topt het deelnemersveld in de Qatarese hoofdstad Doha.
