Na twee manches deelde wereldkampioen Caudron, toernooiwinnaar in Ho Chi Minh City, de leiding in de wereldbekerstand met de Zuid-Koreaan Cho Myung Woo (UMB-1), die de openingsmanche in Bogota won. Merckx was zesde in de stand.
