WB snowboard - Ward Van Tittelboom gaat er bij zijn debuut uit in de kwalificaties in Flachau

Belgian snowboarder Ward Van Tittelboom (Intensive Rookie Program) pictured in action during the opening of a large dry slope by Flemish minister Weyts, Sport Vlaanderen, the city of Genk and Snow Sports Vlaanderen, in Genk, Saturday 26 June 2021. In a technical sport with very complex movements, the snowboarders and their staff have to look for conditions that allow to perform many repetitions in safe conditions. The dry slope with airbag in Genk makes it possible to train in winter and summer, regardless of the presence of snow. On a track with a height of 34 meters, a length of 62 meters, a slope of 30 degrees and an adjustable 'kicker' (dismount), the riders can imitate every 'Big Air jump' in the world. Van Tittelboom werd zo zeventiende in de tweede reeks. Enkel de top 7 in de twee reeksen kwalificeerde zich voor de finale.


Van Tittelboom werd bij zijn eerste deelname aan de Wereldbeker snowboarden 38e, op 60 deelnemers. Eind januari won hij de Europacup-manche slopestyle in het Italiaanse Prato Nevoso.


Donderdag greep Sky Remans naast een finale in de slopestyle bij de vrouwen. De Limburgse tiener werd elfde in de kwalificaties. De finales vinden zaterdag plaats.
